I can't say enough good things about this place! My wife and I are here during Thanksgiving week, which is in the OFF season for São Jorge island. Out of the six cabins here, we are the only occupants.

That has not diminished the experience in the least! Jorge is an amazing host and the accommodations are beautiful. Everything is clean, everything is functional, and the surrounding landscape is absolutely gorgeous! It's hard to overestimate the importance of a good shower, especially on an island where hiking trails are the major form of recreation. The shower in our cabana is absolutely perfect! The supply of hot water is apparently limitless, and the showerhead is one of those big round ones that really soaks you well. the kitchen is well-outfitted, and everything works as expected. The bed is extremely comfortable – I would like to take it home with me, but I know that's impossible!!

Housekeeping was done by request, and we didn't need any housekeeping while we were here. We actually prefer it that way. However, Jorge made it clear when we arrived that if we needed anything at all, we just had to ask.

I highly recommend both the lodging and the restaurant for anyone who is looking for a little bit of peace and quiet, a very comfortable and unique lodging experience, excellent food, and the best hosts one could ask for.

Um lugar incrível onde, realmente, se consegue relaxar.

No exterior, apenas se ouvem os vários sons da natureza; dentro das cabanas a vista é do verde que nos transporta para esses mesmos sons.
O conforto é total e absoluto. As cabanas estão muito bem isoladas, bem decoradas, os materiais e o mobiliário são de muito boa qualidade, e estão muito bem equipadas. Nenhum pormenor é esquecido nem deixado ao acaso.
Para além disso, fomos muito bem recebidos e a comunicação foi sempre muito fácil e atenciosa.

No restaurante, jantámos muito bem e tomámos um bom pequeno almoço.

A avaliar pelo conforto do espaço, pelo meio envolvente e por toda a simpatia, deverá ser um lugar igualmente agradável para visitar de inverno.

Sentimo-nos mesmo muito bem e já estamos a pensar em que altura poderemos voltar...!

Nous avons louer l'appartement 1 chambre pendant 6 nuits. L'endroit est super paisible entouré de nature un vrai Havre de paix.

L'appartement était très spacieux et la cuisine également. Y cuisiner était agréable avec la vue sur la nature. Il y règne une ambiance, un certain charme il faut y être pour le ressentir.

George le propriétaire était au petit soin et est très facilement joignable au moindre soucis.

Laura & Johan qui tiennent le restaurant sont très chaleureux et savent recevoir. Tout est frais et fait main! Homemade c'est leur signature!

En tout cas le cœur y est et on souhaite qu'il continue d'évoluer et de prospérer un vrai coup de cœur.

Jorge made sure we were properly settled in to his little piece of paradise on the island. The “cabin” itself is more reminiscent of a beautiful cottage, similar to what you’d find in northern Ontario. Spacious, clean, bright, and comfortable. The property is well situated to everything on the island. Zephyr restaurant prepares a great breakfast and dinner service. If you’re looking for a great place to stay on Sao Jorge, this is it!

Edit: and if Jorge’s hospitality wasn’t enough during our stay, when our flight was cancelled and we were stuck on the island, he made sure to take us in!

São Jorge was the last stop on our honeymoon tour of the Azores and we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay to round things off! The cabin is cozy, bright and comfortable. Jorge and the kitchen staff were beyond helpful, giving us great ideas of what to do and where to eat. The location is absolutely stunning - every morning, you eat breakfast overlooking beautiful nature. I would recommend staying here to everyone!

Soggiorno a metà Luglio 2023. L'atmosfera è molto selvaggia, si sta in mezzo alla natura con una vista mozzafiato su Pico, molti gli animaletti selvatici, avvistati conigli e furetti, vegetazione di alto fusto e rigorosamente verde, alloggi in legno spaziosi e confortevoli. La nota dolente è che non c'è nessuno ad accogliere, qualsiasi problema devi risolverlo parlando con i ragazzi che portano la colazione la mattina, e qualche piccolo problema c'è stato, lampadine fulminate, sedia di legno del patio rotta, tappo del lavandino bloccato. La colazione viene portata in un cestino da pic nic, è più che sufficiente, manca un po' di tipicità. Per cenare c'è un ristorante all'interno, con gestione separata dalla struttura, si mangia bene, andrebbe arricchito il menù ma l'hanno rilevato da poco e con molta buona volontà stanno cercando di farlo crescere. Una stella in meno per il rapporto qualità/prezzo.

Uma ligação á natureza inigualável. Uma ótima combinação entre a natureza e a modernidade.

Très décevant. Nous ne cherchons pas la perfection, mais à 260€ la nuit nous considérons qu'un minimum soit attendu!
A notre arrivée, personne pour nous accueillir, nous avons dû chercher notre cabane en déduisant que la clé sur le bureau à l'entrée était la nôtre. Pas de réponse à notre mail pour le check in en amont.
Dans la cabane, pas de lumière pour manger, ni dans la cuisine. Pas de sac poubelle, nettoyage du frigo non fait avec les restes des clients précédents.
Le petit déjeuner est livré à une heure aléatoire, les produits frais ne le sont plus, le jus d'orange et les oeufs sont à préparés par soi-même. Il est dit que nous pouvons cuisiner : sans couteau efficient, ni planche à découper, ni huile, plutôt rudimentaire!
Nous avons signalé ces désagréments au personnel, que nous n'avons plus trouvé sur les lieux dès 11h du matin. Un mail à la direction semble avoir fait réagir : une lampe d'appoint a été disposée devant le frigo... qui du coup ne s'ouvre plus! Cela a dû demandé tellement de logistique que la chambre n'a pas été nettoyée ce jour-là... Pour se consoler : une bouteille de vin offerte à 10€ dégustée dans le bruit de la construction d'un four à pizza extérieur à 20h...
Toutes ces déconvenues peuvent bien évidemment arriver dans n'importe quel établissement, nous aurions pu le tolérer, mais aucune adéquation prix/service. Nous avons ressenti un grand manque de prise en considération du client pendant ces 3 jours.
Gardez votre argent pour un établissement qui en estime la valeur et se souciera authentiquement que votre séjour soit réussi. Le cadre des cabanes est très sympathique oui, mais il est une belle coquille vide.

Très bel établissement au milieu de la forêt. L'endroit est magnifique, très calme et on est bien servi.

The cabins are excellent, but the service was very poor. The restaurant is closed and the breakfast was “cook yourself” which was not communicated. Over marketed and under impressed which is a very different experience to this island and the Azores generally. We stayed in 5 different places in the Azores at a similar price point and this was the most disappointing by far.

Disappointing stay. Management is not on the island and restaurant was shut with no prior notification. We were expected to cook our own breakfast on the second day (raw eggs delivered to our room 45min late). For the price, definitely not worth it given the other options available on the island. Cabins were nice though and appeared as in the photos.

Wow! This place has a surreal beauty.. and that goes for the staff as well! We were there in mid June of this year. This property with this island is a winning combo ✅ Catia at reception was so sweet and accommodating. They really care about your well-being. Nibedita who served us and generally answered all types of questions we had was lovely and so funny too. Her cakes are amazing! Kitchen staff were great. They even ran a dinner to our cabin because we were very late one evening after a fun day out and getting a little lost. They go the extra mile. (Try not to let your phone die.. it’s insanely beautiful on this island so your battery will go quick with all the photo taking lol). Finally, housekeeping kept our place spotless. The view of Pico from all over the island never gets old and the view from this property is stunning. Do yourself a favor and stay here. It’s so peaceful and a great location. Enjoy the hiking, swimming, food, and relaxation! They will take the best care of you at Cabanas de Viscondessa. ❤️❤️ Thank you! Can’t wait to come again.. it’s that good.
