Amazing place! Love the library and the univerity in general is really beautiful. It is absolutely worth taking the tour and walk through the whole building. Apparently one of the three three oldest universities in the world!!

The university of Coimbra is a university with a long history. There are its school palace, clock tower, university prison, chapel inside. It take functions as an observatory that overlooks the entire city of coimbra, because it was located on a hill. The huge statue of the university's founder in the playground is a sight to see. There are buildings built between 16th and 18th centuries, and students are still studying in those buildings. In particular, the Joania library built in 18th century have many books, gorgeous books bindings, and bookshelves. Those give us a glimpse of how important the king and the country placed books.

Quite an interesting place to visit, though I had to admit I expected to see more rooms. Some were closed for restoration or not allowed to be seen by tourists, etc. There is a chance to see the library, the chapel and the botanical gardens as well. Definitely see the library- it is the highlight of the tour for sure! One thing that I believe is strange is that you need to buy tickets like 3 blocks away and then walk to the university- what’s the sense? It’s a mystery and inconvenience for sure.

A great half day trip. The church was nice, the palace was good but the bibliotheca (library) was fantastic. A 13 euro entry fee was well worth it. The gift shop was good too. (No pictures of the bibliotheca because they don’t allow it)

조아니나 도서관이 너무 좋았어요
코임브라 대학.투어 티켓이 두 가지가 있는데
조아니나 도서관이 포함된 거랑
포함되지 않은 게 있는데
개인적으로는 조아니나 도서관이 하이라이트 였어서
포함된티켓을 구입하시기를 추천드려요

조아니나 도서관은 입장 시간을
20분.단위로 끊어서
아마도 인원을 제한해서 입장시키는것 같은데
도서관 문이 열릴때 확 느껴지는 고서의 향이
참 좋았습니다

첫번째 방은 플래시 없이 촬영 가능하고
두번째 방은 촬영 불가인데
그 두번째 방이 너무 환상적이었어요
검정, 녹색, 빨강 세 가지로 구분된 세 개의
홀이 있는데 서가 중간에 비밀의 방 처럼
발코니로 나 있는 책 읽는 공간에
너무 앉아보고 싶었네요

탑에 오르는 거는 따로 표를 사야하는데
표 사기전에 심장질환이나 고소공포증 있는지
확인하고 팔더라고요
탑까지 올라가는 마지막 구간 계단이 무지 좁아서
사람들을 제한해서 올려보내는데
올라가시면 코임브라 전경이 보입니다

Went o look at the Joanina library. No one knew where it was. Turned out you needed to buy tickets before hand which were sold out. Campus is not extraordinary trip to coimbra was not special. I would not recommend it but if you feel compelled to go be prepared as sites are not marked, you have to buy tickets through the app and they only tell you at the last minute if they’re sold out. You need tickets to enter the library.

We got tickets to see everything and although it was nice I would say if you can only do one thing do the library. Everything else is just okay.
The views from this area are lovely. Come here even just to walk around the place for free.

What a beautiful university. The buildings are mesmerising. It is located above the hills so we can see Coimbra from the top. Make sure to visit Joanina library because it is so beautiful. One of the most beautiful libraries in the world. You need to buy tickets in advance and there is a timed visit for the library. They only have a guided visit for the library because the library is very old and they want to preserve the interior. Worth to visit.

皇宮變黌宮～葡萄牙歷史悠久的大學Coimbra University, 創立於1290年，這校園也是聯合國教科文組織認證的世界文化遺產。校門入口的地上，細看是鑲嵌著手持書本和渾天儀的智慧女神雅典娜；進到校園廣場，入眼的是神似貓頭鷹的大學鐘塔。廣場周遭建築宛如宮殿，中央矗立著葡萄牙國王約翰三世João III的雕像，就是他～提出把這大學遷移到Coimbra皇宮，成為傳道授業解惑的學術殿堂，從此充滿了年輕氣息與書香。

走在學院迴廊中，瀰漫著優雅的曼努埃爾線條與濃濃葡式花磚，校史展覽室裡陳列了歷屆校長的肖像，傳承著深厚的文化底蘊和古色古香。禮拜堂裡～有王者之聲的管風琴，還有搶眼繽紛的天花板，此處現亦成教職員重要慶典的藝術殿堂。走出圍牆，俯瞰整個老城的紅磚白牆，瀰漫著氤氳的河畔風光。

最後，值得一提的是世界最美十大圖書館之一的喬安娜圖書館 Biblioteca Joanina，除了絕對精雕細琢華麗隆重的歷史重量，而且館裡還養著蝙蝠，用來對付啃食書籍的書蟲啊！推薦，這是值得一遊的大學城，令人好生嚮往。

trop belle pour la manquer
Rien à dire, la visite est riche en découvertes et en beautés multiples, et en surprises: le panorama, les peintures, sans oublier l'inoubliable bibliothèque. Dans les tickets combinés, il y a aussi le musée des sciences, auquel cas prévoyez d'y passer au moins une demi-journée (attention, accès limité à la bibli, pensez à réserver, par ex l'après-midi pour le lendemain matin).

L'espace universitaire de Coimbra est très belle (le palais, la tour de l'horloge et en particulier la bibliothèque qui possède des livres anciens .... de toute beauté, par contre il est interdit de prendre des photos du troisième étage, là où se trouvent ces livres anciens.

Un détour s'impose. Promenade au coeur de l'université où la plupart des étudiantes et étudiants ressemblent à Harry Potter (ils sont quasi tous habités de noir avec une cape).

Composée de magnifiques bâtiments avec notamment la tour de l'horloge.
