Superbes chambres, d'une charme romantique, dans un hôtel luxueux à proximité de Bryant Park et de Times Square.

Sofitel, New York, DSK, chambre 2820, 14 mai 2011... Au-delà de ce fait-divers retentissant, le Sofitel est un hôtel luxueux très bien situé, à quelques blocks de Bryant Park et de Times Square. Construit en 2000, l'hôtel a été pensé en terme de design et de lumières pour donner une atmosphère romantique aux chambre. Un soin tout particulier a été apporté à la déco, élégante et raffinée. Aux murs, dans les chambres et les espaces publics, sont accrochées des peintures d'art contemporain. A vous de juger ! Petit plus, une grande partie du personnel parle français.

Stayed in a Deluxe Double Room, which could use a refreshment, but was clean and has a comfortable bedding. Decent size. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Good bar.

Wir hatten eine Suite (1 Bett, ein Ausziehsofa) mit drei Personen und Kleinkind gebucht und bei der Buchung auch angegeben, dass wir gerne ein Babybett haben möchten.
Bei Anreise würden wir allen Ernstes gefragt, ob wir denn das Ausziehsofa zum Schlafen benötigen?!?!?
Das Babybett war auch nicht vorbereitet. Das hat uns sehr enttäuscht in diesem Haus, das wir zuvor bereits mehrmals (sehr zufrieden) besucht haben.
Außerdem war der Teppich vor dem Eingang des Zimmers nebenan heftig mit Sägespänen verschmutzt und ein Spinnennetz in der Ecke des Türrahmens. So etwas kann zwar passieren, ich erwarte aber, das so etwas spätestens am nächsten Tag von der regulären Reinigung behoben wird.

The location is great. Bedding is ultra comfort.

I got violently ill on my trip and slept most of the time and my stay was comforting to get better. I’ll definitely book again

I've stayed at a number of Sofitel hotels in Canada and the US over the years. We were happy to have been upgraded to a suite on check-in and although the suite was lovely and comfortable, it definitely was showing signs of wear. Not luxurious by any means. Tile was cracked on the shower walk-in with a poor attempt to caulk it. Sofa bed was very uncomfortable for sitting on, carpet was fraying in some spots. No bottled water was provided in the room. Old mini bar in cabinet but not functioning as a refrigerator. Surprised that a coffee maker wasn't in the room. Free coffee during hours was nice but should be in the lobby for convenience not in restaurant near exit. Being fond of French pastry, I was surprised that the chef doesn't rotate items for the continental breakfast: always just a plain croissant and a chocolate croissant we were told. Small detail but pancakes were at room temperature in the restaurant and syrup container and syrup were cold. Hotel comped one order, but waiter seemed perplexed by our pointing out the issue at table side. Overall, very nice but not what I had expected for a Sofitel and the price. We would stay there again when we return but I hope hotel improves some of the issues.
